Overcoming issues with the PSTN switch-off at BAPCO 2025

Multitone Stand: H29

Multitone, Ericsson, and Telent will demonstrate their integrated solution to address the PSTN transition, overcoming the issues seen with earlier 4G solutions.

The UK's shift away from the PSTN is imminent as faster, more reliable, and future-proofed communication technologies take centre stage. Multitone Electronics is a leading provider of integrated communication systems and is working with its partners Ericsson and Telent to provide an integrated solution which solves the impending switch-off.

At the forthcoming BAPCO Show 2025 at the Coventry Building Society Arena on 5-6 March 2025, the three partners will demonstrate live at the exhibition, how the solution will work. Jason Humphreys, Emergency Services Major Accounts Manager at Multitone explains:

“Partnering with Ericsson and Telent is crucial for us to deliver reliable, high-speed communication infrastructure, essential for our customers, especially emergency services, in a digital future.

“At the exhibition, visitors can see how all personnel on all three company stands – Ericsson, Telent and Multitone – use their respective technology to communicate with each other. Once one of the stands sends an alarm, all three stands will respond; Ericsson with flashing lights and sounds, Telent by generating sound, and Multitone with sound and alerters.

“This partnership showcases how versatile our solution can be in connecting different nodes, stations & CCPs end points; and solves the looming PSTN switch off. It provides a secure, high-availability second IP bearer between the control sites and the station-end equipment, with this centrally managed solution overcoming many issues seen with earlier 4G solutions."

The three partners look forward to welcoming industry professionals to visit Multitone at Stand H29, Ericsson (Stand J31) and Telent (Stand G30) to see the solution in action and discuss how this collaboration leads the charge in digital communication transformation, addressing the challenges faced by emergency services in the future.
