Highways England extends relationship with Sepura

Highways England has issued its frontline traffic officers with Sepura SC20 TETRA devices for use on the UK’s national Airwave network.

According to Sepura, over 700 handsets - which are IP68 rated - have been bought by the organisation. These are necessary to “[help patrols] communicate with other patrols, as well as back to Highways England’s control rooms.”

Speaking of the roll-out, Business Development Director for Sepura, Andy Gregory, said: “It is a pleasure to further our working relationship with Highways England. The SC20, with its rugged design and clear audio - coupled with its ability to run intelligent applications - will ensure that officers are well protected, and always in touch with their control centre.”

Al Edwards, Highways England technology operations manager, said: “The SC20 has a number of features that will undoubtedly enhance the safety of our officers when on patrol or attending incidents. The loud, clear audio is a key factor, while the rugged design of the radio ensures that our staff will be able to rely on the technology [even in difficult conditions].”
Highways England manages over 4,300 miles of road.
