VP, Chief, NENA: The 9-1-1 Association

April is an accomplished professional who currently holds the position of Vice President and Chief of 9-1-1 Operations for NENA: The 9-1-1 Association. She has extensive experience and expertise in 9-1-1 Operations and is NENA's subject matter expert in that area. April's primary responsibilities include educating, advising, and advocating for 9-1-1 and Emergency Communication Center (ECC) operations on behalf of NENA. April supports NENA's development group in establishing operational standards and best practices for 9-1-1 operations. She actively participates in various industry associations and governmental organizations, working groups, committees, and taskforces to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of 9-1-1 systems across the globe. She seeks innovative solutions to enhance emergency response capabilities and is dedicated to improving the 9-1-1 profession.

Prior to her role at NENA, April spent just over two decades serving Eaton County Central Dispatch in Michigan. She began her career as a Public Safety Telecommunicator and steadily climbed the ranks to become the Director. Her dedication and commitment to public safety were evident throughout her 24-year tenure. In 2016, April was recruited to work for an NG9-1-1 provider, focusing on industry affairs and advocating for the needs of 9-1-1 professionals. During her nearly three-year tenure, she played a pivotal role in shaping policies and practices to support the evolution of Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) systems.

April's remarkable achievements, comprehensive industry experience, and ongoing dedication make her an influential figure in 9-1-1 Operations. Her contributions towards shaping the future of emergency communications and supporting the needs of 9-1-1 professionals truly set her apart.
