Darryl Keen
Darryl retired as Chief Fire Officer of Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service in 2021. In his operational role he attended a wide range of incidents including the Windsor Castle fire in 1992 and the Buncefield Oil Terminal fire in 2005.
For the last decade Darryl has been closely involved in emergency control rooms and technical communications in the UK, including working closely with British Telecoms, all of the emergency services and the UK’s telecoms providers to ensure the effectiveness of the 999/112 emergency call system.
Darryl coordinated the mutual support arrangements for the response to Covid in Hertfordshire, worked to ensure public compliance with containment measures and established the County’s vaccination arrangements including establishing one of the first Large Vaccine Centres in the UK.
