Following a career in technology leadership roles in biotech and contact centres, Martin was appointed CIO of Scottish Police Services Authority in 2012 where he was given the task of preparing for and delivering the technology aspects of the merger of eight police forces into the new Police Scotland and Scottish Police Authority.  After successful completion and following the launch of Police Scotland in 2013 he was appointed Director of ICT / CIO.  In 2014 he was the founding Chair of the National Police Technology Council (NPTC).  He Joined BT in 2018 heading up innovation for public safety and justice before moving to PDS in 2022 as Head of Strategy and Innovation, where he has been key in the first trial of AI with Police control rooms.
