Steve Sadler is a professional researcher, writer, &  On-call firefighter.  But mostly, and most importantly he is father of two; partner of one. Steve has worked for 4 years as an NHS professional and has served in four Fire and Rescue Services throughout England: Cornwall, Devon & Somerset, Staffordshire and Shropshire. Throughout his career, he has used, and continues to use many forms of public safety technology to serve our communities

As a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Keele University Steve used his research expertise alongside this fire service experience to develop a comprehensive research, data and evidence-based approach for the availability of On-call fire engines. During this project he became aware of FireSertviceRota, its use in the public sector, notably its use as a  technology solution for the top three fire and rescue services for fire engine availability.

He has since recently completed the UK's most comprehensive On-call research project: Sustaining Success for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service which he was shortlisted for a FIRE Excellence in Emergency and Fire Awards Innovation of the Year award in 2022. He has recently presented this work and strategic guidance at Ireland's senior fire officer seminar in 2022, the National Fire Chief's Council Strategic practitioner forum, and a FIRE webinar. Presently he is supporting Mid and West Wales aspirations to remain a world leading emergency service using research and the latest innovations and data solutions. 

His work has highlighted the importance of using technology like FSR to facilitate smarter uses of data, create resilience, and capacity in an overstretched fire sector. As a result he now also works in a strategic alliance supporting the world's finest firefighter alerting, planning, rostering and availability Software as a Service: FireServiceRota.
